The owner of a Toshiba Satellite P50t-B came to me with a laptop that would go dark after booting. No image at all but it would shut itself off. I replaced the fan and the system kept doing the same and had several windows installations on the bootloader. I guess the recovery system tried to solve the boot issue too many times Clean install, everything going fine until the cursor jumps to the center of the screen that the laptop freezes, having to be forcibly shutdown.
Did anyone come across with something like this? I don't see how can it be a software issue and not a AMD chip busted. Well, it is not outside the possibility. Otherwise, just reseat everything and if it still doesn't work then you may have to pick up a new one.
Does it work ok in safemode? I would assume so because it wouldn't load the AMD driver for the gpu. Windows shouldn't manage those drivers anymore by itself until a major update resets the setting , then try the driver from Toshiba if you haven't already. I have this exact same problem with my Toshiba.
At some point after Windows 10 upgrade, any attempt to use my AMD card causes a black screen and the system freezes up. By default, Windows lists the AMD as disabled in the devices list. Turning it on causes the above described problem to occur. I've also tried different drivers, rolling Windows 10 back, system restores, fresh install of system.
